WELCOME MUNCHERS!

You love food. You follow more gourmet food trucks than actual people on Twitter. Your eyes roll in the back of your head when you bite into a red velvet cupcake. You dash to your favorite restaurant despite your non-existent lunch break. You devour whatever might be in arms reach at that very moment. You are the ultimate foodie! So do you have what it takes to eat your way through an obstacle course and fun run? Well, we think you do. We designed this event just for you.

Inspired by the Travel Channel’s Man v. Food and CBS’ The Amazing Race, Munchathon, the first-ever food-themed fun run/obstacle course featuring food and beverage stops PLUS a gourmet food truck festival, launches at Oak Canyon Park in Orange County, CA, on Saturday, July 16, 2011.

Run, walk, skip and munch your way through the scenic course overlooking Irvine Lake. Besides encountering obstacles, you will have several stops where you can try sample-size food items from gourmet food trucks and local vendors. You can expect beverage stops along the course as well. Get a team together or go solo, dress up as bananas or hot dogs or piggies—whatever gets you pumped—and bring your appetite. After the run, participants will have access to a festival of gourmet food trucks, beverages, entertainment, vendors and lots more.

Don’t feel like working so hard for your food? You can skip the run and buy a ticket just for the food truck festival.  Either way you’ll have a great time!

We only have TWO RULES for all attendees and those are…

DASH & DEVOUR.

Can’t wait to munch with you all!

Sincerely,
Munchathon Team

IS THIS THE INAUGURAL EVENT?
YES, this is the first-ever Munchathon!

HOW WILL THE CROWDING/LINES AT THE FOOD STOPS ON THE RUN BE HANDLED?
The race will be broken down into waves so there won’t be too many people at once flocking to a food stop, plus we will have volunteers handing out food items in order to keep everything moving efficiently.

The best eats from gourmet food trucks and vendors. Visit the Food page to learn more!

No. There will not be an area to check belongings.

AM I ALLOWED TO WEAR A COSTUME?
Please have fun and dress up as bananas, warriors, princesses or whatever your heart desires. Just make sure the costume does not impair your vision, prevent you from breathing normally, or can potentially make you trip or get snagged on an obstacle.

WHAT IS THE AGE LIMIT FOR PARTICIPATING IN THE RUN?
There is no age limit for Munchathon.

WILL THE RUN BE TIMED?
No, the run will not be timed. We just want everyone to have fun and gobble up all their food at their own pace!

ARE OUTSIDE FOOD AND BEVERAGES ALLOWED?
You may bring in water, but on the course and in the festival we’ll have plenty to munch on, so please leave your own food and other beverages at home.

I SEE THE GENERAL ADMISSION FESTIVAL TICKETS HAVE THREE AVAILABLE TIME SLOTS. WHAT DOES THAT MEAN AND HOW WILL IT BE MANAGED?
It’s to ensure that your arrival runs smoothly. As anyone who has been to Oak Canyon Park can attest, getting to the parking lot can be the biggest challenge! Once you turn off Santiago Canyon Road, the path to Oak Canyon Park is one lane each way, and in order to prevent a major traffic backup we’ve staggered the entrance times.  Anybody who purchases an early admission ticket may enter the festival area at 10 a.m. At 11 a.m., the first group of general admission ticket holders will be allowed in, followed by another group at 12 p.m.  Any remaining ticket holders will be admitted after 1 p.m. until the event ends at 5 p.m.

I BOUGHT A GENERAL ADMISSION TICKET FOR 11 A.M. BUT I CAN’T MAKE IT UNTIL LATER. CAN I STILL GET INSIDE THE FESTIVAL?
Yes. Your ticket admits you at any time from 11 a.m. until the event ends at 5 p.m.

I PURCHASED A TICKET/RACE ENTRY, BUT NOW I FOUND OUT THAT I HAVE ANOTHER EVENT THAT DAY. CAN I GET A REFUND?
Festival tickets and fun run entry fees are non-refundable. Once your payment has been processed, you will not receive a refund if you cannot participate.
